Easier Ways

Accessibility

How we try to make Easier Ways clear and comfortable to use, and how to tell us if something is causing difficulty.

Making the site easier to use

We want Easier Ways to be comfortable to read on a computer, tablet or phone. The pages use clear headings, ordinary language, descriptive links and alternative text for useful images. You should also be able to move around the site with a keyboard and use it with common screen-reading software.

Changing the size and appearance

Your browser can enlarge the text or zoom the whole page. The layout should rearrange itself without forcing you to scroll sideways at normal zoom levels. Many browsers and devices can also change colours and contrast or read the page aloud. These settings belong to your device, so you can choose what feels most comfortable.

Images and external websites

The photographs help illustrate each subject, but the written guide does not depend on seeing them. We do not put essential instructions inside an image. Links to councils, charities and other organisations open websites that have their own accessibility arrangements, which we cannot control.

If something is not working for you

Please tell us if a page, menu or link is difficult to use. It helps if you include the page name, the device or browser and a brief description of what happened. You do not need to know the technical reason. We will try to provide the information another way and look for a practical fix.

We welcome suggestions

Accessibility is not a one-off job. New pages and changes can sometimes introduce a problem that was not there before. If a small change would make the site easier for you or somebody you support, we are happy to hear about it.
